Queeny - In 100 words or less, tell us a little about yourself! Lady Amaranth - But a picture is worth a thousand and a little could never be enough. My stories are in my images and the rest is best left to your own imagination. I’m just a girl who never grew up and my life a swirling mass of dichotomies. Q - How did you get started in modelling? LA - I first got asked to model for Nadya Lev who was over shooting in London from America. Then my friends at Nightshade Clothing roped me in to show off their beautiful wears. From then on it snowballed as I got a taste for playing dress-up and capturing that fleeting perfection of an unreality that sadly can’t exist in our cold harsh reality. Q - You've modelled for quite a few companies now, aside from ourselves of course, who are you favourite brands out there at the moment, and are there any that you'd love to work with that you haven't as yet? LA - I’d say two of my favourite brands are Sinister and Alchemy. Both companies are run by people who have their heart in the alternative scene rather than some entrepreneur with a factory in India looking to make a quick buck. Then of course there is S-moon-S whose jewellery is really quite intricate and unique. As for who I’d like to work with, I have an ever growing list! |

Q - Do you have any photoshoots planned for the future that you'd like to tell us about? LA - I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you ;) Q - What are your ambitions for the future? LA - That’s a difficult one, and is a question I’m wrestling with at the moment. However much I achieve it never seems enough. To find the thing that truly satisfies us, that truly meets our ambitions – how on earth can we find that? And when we do, might we just then die for no longer having a reason for living? For now I’ll settle for getting my wedding planned and marrying the man I adore. After that, I hope I can quiet some of my inner turmoil. Q - How can people contact you regarding modelling work?
LA - My website has a contact section on it www.ladyamaranth.com with all manner of methods in which one may find and stalk me :) |

Q - You've written articles for a few different publications, Alt Fashion and Devolution to name two, which writers really inspire you both personally and professionally? LA - I’ve never been one to dissect literary works and I think studying them for their finer points of word construction and timbre is a bit like dissecting a flower so all you’re left with is petals. I don’t live in an academic world, but one where a flower is beautiful because it is, not because the experts have told us we are disposed to positively perceive certain characteristics of certain objects. But I digress. What I’m saying is there is no “professional” inspiration – in fact I’m sure most of my sentences are unprofessionally mashed together, but personally I love a good story. I love wit and fantasy and magic that you can get lost in. Neil Gaiman is an obvious, and his book Good Omens who he wrote alongside Terry Pratchett is most certainly one of my favourite. Other story tellers include Gregory Maguire whose retailing of fairytales is truly inspired. And a constant favourite must be Dr. Seuss, some of his more “meatier” titles such as The Lorax are simply brilliant in their simplicity yet intricate below the surface. Then there is of course the short story by Patricia McKillip entitled The Lady of the Skulls, whose narrative brought me my name Amaranth.
