Model Of The Month
So for this month’s model, we decided to focus on someone who started out by doing a couple of promo pictures for the website two years ago one sunny bank holiday weekend in May down south in Brighton. She’d only expected to do a couple of shots for the ‘About Me’ section of the website but loved it so much she has gone on to do a lot more modelling with the fantastic Gothindulgence behind the lens… that’s right this month its me, Queeny!! |

What got you started in modelling? Queeny: A gentle nudge out onto a balcony of the hotel we were staying at in Brighton by Gothindulgence!! I was really nervous about doing the shoot and being several stories high didn’t really help my nerves but after a couple of minutes I was really enjoying myself and was so excited by the results! The look was very much ‘Marylin Monroe’ inspired and the fascinator I wore was a replica of a 40’s one that I had fallen in love with and copied for the shoot. Being a Milliner you must love hats, so just how many do you own and which is your favourite? Q: I have lost count of the number of hat I own… really I have so many! I collect vintage hats as well as make vintage inspired pieces and have a bit of a problem when it comes to making new designs… I tend to end up with one each of the new ones I make!! My favourite is a vintage black hat with feathers that I found in a little shop called Armstrongs Vintage in Edinburgh many, many years ago!! What has been your favourite photo shoot to date? Q: I have very fond memories of my first shoot, it was a great weekend spent with some fantastic people! But the latest shoot that we did at Whitby Abbey with my fiancé Alan and our baby bump is one of my favourites to be involved in… no hats this time round just our new little family!!

What photo shoots do you have planned next? Q: I’ve nothing personally booked for me although I’ve been taking to Gothindulgence about coming to shoot the baby once they arrive in July! I’ll be providing hats for a shoot over the summer with Gothindulgence and Gothique. Then hopefully back to doing some modelling myself later in the year… I’m keen to do some more medieval and renaissance style stuff! What are your ambitions/plans for the future? Q: I’m hoping to start trading again at the Whitby Goth Weekend from this October, and I’m starting to do wedding fayres with our new vintage inspired bridal range. Eventually I’d love to make millinery my full time job and open a little hat shop somewhere. How did you decide the name of your business, any interesting back stories? Q: Off With Her Head came along by accident. Originally we were called Queen of Hearts. I've always been a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and the name originated from the character there. We'd had the web address www.offwithherhead.co.uk and at an event a couple of years ago the organisers had put us on the promo material under the website name and it kind of stuck with people. I think its quite a memorable name and really suits the business while still keeping my Alice theme alive!! |
Do you like to travel where your favourite place you’ve ever been?
Q: I LOVE to travel... Its so hard for my to choose my favourite place I've been to. I've been lucky enough to travel to Pittsburgh PA, Finand, Denmark and Paris, to name a few of my favourites. But I think actually my favourite place is not too far from home... Glastonbury in Somerset. Its a very magical place, with lots of amazing memories for me and my fiance! If you could have dinner with any 3 people dead or alive who would they be and why?
Q: Fantastic question!! Well... I'd definitely have to include Marylin Monroe, she was an amazing style icon and I'd love to ask her exactly how she died! Then there would have to be Vivienne Westwood. I'm a huge fan of her designs! And finally... It'd be Dita Von Tease... she's just amazing! Model: Queeny
